Dumpdon Hill is a hill in the Blackdown Hills of Devon, bearing an Iron Age hill fort. It is found in the east of the county, near Honiton.
Rising above the valley of the River Otter, Dumpdon Hill is one of the largest, and most distinct hills in the area due to a large clump of beech trees situated at its summit. The top of the hill, with the fort earthworks, is owned by the National Trust.
The fort
Dumpdon's fort is at 800 feet above sea level. It is somewhat overshadowed by its better known neighbour Hembury Fort it is nonetheless as impressive an earthwork.[1]
