Hamilton, LanarkshireHamilton is a town in Lanarkshire, twelve miles south-east of Glasgow, on the south bank of the River Clyde where the Avon Water flows into the Clyde. This is a working town, developed and based on industry and its transport links. The town was originally an estate named Cadzow, but the town takes its current name from the Hamilton family, to whom the lands of Cadzow were granted after the Battle of Bannockburn. (Read more) |
