Ffestiniog Railway

The Ffestiniog Railway is a narrow gauge heritage railway in Merionethshire and a major tourist attraction. It runs on a single line roughly thirteen miles long climbing from the harbour at Porthmadog in Caernarfonshire through forested and mountainous scenery, on a single track throughout up to the slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog in Merionethshire, which was the original reason for the line.

The track gauge is 2 feet, allowing trains to be used either on the Ffestiniog or on its sister line, the Welsh Highland Railway, which is operated by the same company. (Read more)
