Leeson Point

Leeson Point is a conspicuous ice-covered coastal headland forming the north-east corner of Montagu Island, in the South Sandwich Islands.

The headland projects from the island's long, straight east coast, which runs almost due south from here, and is almost the easternmost point of the island; only Mathias Point on the south part of the coast is further east, and that by just 25 seconds of arc (the latter forming the easternmost point in the whole of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands).

Leeson Point was named by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee for Lieutenant John Leeson of the Royal Navy, Senior Pilot in HMS Protector's ship's flight during survey of these islands in 1964.
