Loughborough

Loughborough is a town in Leicestershire, the largest after Leicester, and a town famed for sport. It is the home of Loughborough University, for which sport is the focus.

In 1841 Loughborough was the destination for the first package tour; one organised by Thomas Cook for a temperance group from Leicester. Given the number of students swelling the town today, it would be an unlikely temperance destination now. (Read more)
