Clare Island

Clare Island is a mountainous island guarding the entrance to Clew Bay in County Mayo. It is famous as the home of the pirate queen Gráinne O'Malley. It was the home to 168 people at the 2011 census.

South-west of Clare Island lie the uninhabited Caher Island and the inhabited Inishturk. (Read more)
