Pollok Castle

Pollok Castle is a modern country house in the Georgian style which stands in in the countryside at the western edge of Newton Mearns in Renfrewshire.

A tower was built here in the 11th century, which Sir Robert Pollok demolished and replaced with a large stately house. A number of successor houses were successively abandoned, ruined and burned until in 2003 the castle was rebuilt in the Adam style by Alex Hewitt. Some of the original foundations and castle walls remain nevertheless. (Read more)
