Pungent Point
Pungent Point is a headland of low, dark lava cliffs forming the east point of Zavodovski Island in the South Sandwich Islands.
The headland was surveyed from HMS Protector in 1962 and 1964. The name applied by United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1971 refers to the pungent volcanic fumes which are characteristic of this island.
