Hebron is a Biblical place-name which from which a number of non-conformist chapels were named during The Revival and from these several villages and hamlets have been named.

The name of Hebron appears throughout the Old Testament: Abraham bought a cave here, the Cave of Machpelah, and settled at Hebron. The cave became his burial place and those of the patriarchs descended from him. Later Hebron was one of the main cities of Israel. The idea of Hebron a Abraham's town inspired the naming of chapels after it.
