Blackheath is a village in Essex which forms a southern, almost detached, suburb of Colchester, in the north-east of the county.

On the east side of the village is an extensive rifle range, owned by the Chelmsford (1944) Rifle Club,[1] a club founded in 1944 as the 6th Essex Home Guard Rifle Club.
