Birtley is a hamlet in northern Herefordshire, just over a mile and a half from the bounds of Radnorshire but with no direct road connection. The valley of the River Teme is about two miles to the north, and along the valley runs the A4113 Ludlow to Knighton road.

The hamlet may be found to the west of Ludlow and Leominster, approximately ten miles from both towns. It is to the north of Lingen, and allocated to its civil parish.
