Fountainhall is a hamlet in the parish of Stow, Midlothian. It is situated on the right bank of the Gala Water, just off the A7 road.

It formerly had a station on the Waverley Line, but this closed in 1969 along with the entire line. The line was reopened from Edinburgh as far as Tweedbank in 2015, but no station was provided at Fountainhall.

Fountainhall sits in the south-east corner of Midlothian and is no more than five miles (as the crow flies) from five other counties: Berwickshire lies 2½ miles to the east; East Lothian lies 3½ miles due north; Selkirkshire lies 3½ miles to the south-west; Roxburghshire lies four miles to the south-east; and Peeblesshire lies five miles to the west.
