Altnabreac is a tiny inland hamlet in Caithness. This place is known for its remoteness, but it has a railway station, Altnabreac railway station, and a few dwellings, one a house converted from the old village school in 1986.

Altnabreac can only be approached by train, or along unsurfaced roads from the nearest village, Westerdale, about 12 miles away.

Altnabreac, like Dounreay, was considered as a location for a final repository for the United Kingdom's nuclear waste, but this idea was not pursued.
