Fallodon is a hamlet in Northumberland. It is a little place, but gave a territorial designation to the Viscounts Grey of Fallodon, and their seat is here. It is pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable.

Grey family

Hannah Grey (née. Wood) was raised on her father's estate at Fallodon and married Sir Henry Grey, first baronet of Howick. One of their children was Charles Grey, who became the first 1st Earl Grey, and his sons in turn were Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey and Sir George Grey, created 1st Baronet of Fallodon. Sir George Grey, 2nd Baronet of Fallodon grew up at Fallodon, as did Edward Grey, the Liberal statesman and Britain's longest serving Foreign Secretary: he was created the 1st Viscount Grey of Fallodon, and the family seat, Fallodon Hall, is found here.
