Sgurr a' Mhaim is a mountain amongst the Mamores range of Inverness-shire. It reaches a height of 3,606 feet at its summit, and so it qualifies as a Munro.

Overview

An utter beauty of a mountain, it rises above the south side of Glen Nevis, part of group of four Munros known as the 'Ring of Steall' form a ring around Allt Coire a' Mhàil and the impressive Steall Falls. Sgurr a Mhàim is the last link in the chain before dropping back down to Glen Nevis.

The southern ridge runs down a ridge known as “The Devils Ridge”, down to Sgor an Iubhair, once listed itself as a Munro. The ridge is just over half a mile long, and despite its grim name, the Devil's Ridge is a fine walk, but the most impressive part of the ridge, "the Bad Step" requires moderate scrambling.

The northern face of the mountain is steep down to the glen.

The summit is while all year, no always with snow though; it is capped with quartzite which may be mistaken for snow when it glitters in the sun.

Ascent and summit

Sgurr a' Mhàim is normally climbed from the north, in Glen Nevis. It may be climbed alone or together with the rest of the Ring of Steall, which is an impressive hike, if lengthy.

From the summit the views north stretch far over the Nevis Region.
