Petrel Peak
South Georgia and
the South Sandwich Islands
Range: Thatcher Peninsula
South Georgia
Summit: 2,073 feet 54°16’11"S, 36°31’55"W

Petrel Peak is a mountain of 2,073 feet on the Thatcher Peninsula on the north-east coast of South Georgia. It is to the west-north-west of Hodges Peak.

The mountain was named following glaciological work in the area by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in the International Geophysical Year, 1957-58: it is named after the whale-catcher Petrel, of the Grytviken whaling concern, and after the snow petrels (Pagodroma nivea) that nest on the higher rocks.
