Information

Clyde Bridge by Carstairs Junction in Lanarkshire carries a local road over the young River Clyde.

The bridge seen today is a narrow, single-span steel bridge of 'delta' design, opened in 2024. The new bridge replaces an older bridge, built in 1912: the 1912 bridge was placed under weight restrictions from 1956 and closed to traffic and pedestrians in August 2018 for safety reasons, due to severe structural defects.[1]
