Chichester

Chichester is a cathedral city in Sussex, of which it is the county town. The city stands in the very west of the county, on Chichester Harbour, a fine, natural, sheltered harbour.

Chichester was a Roman town then an important Anglo-Saxon town. Its heart is its 12th century cathedral, the seat of the Diocese of Chichester, and in the town are also some of the oldest churches and buildings in Great Britain.

The city is a transport hub, and the centre for culture in the region, with a Festival theatre and two art galleries. Chichester Harbour and the South Downs and the city walls, provide opportunities for outdoor pursuits. (Read more)
