Geal Charn is a mountain in Inverness-shire, which reaches a height of 3,442 feet at its summit, and so it qualifies as a Munro.
The summit of the mountain has its own name, Mullach Coire an Iubhair. After the broad, sprawling mass of hill, Mullach Coire an Iubhair is a small stony cone, topped with a cairn and with a trig point.
Ascent
The climb to Mullach Coire an Iubhair normally begins on the A86 at Loch Laggan.
Geal Charn is connected to Creag Pitridh by a high wide bealach; and these two are normally climbed together. Geal Charn itself is much wider and flatter than its nearest neighbours and lacks a lot of the features they have. The northern slopes do boast some craggy flanks however as these slopes are bitten into by a large corrie. The southeast face drops gently to Loch Pattack and the southwest ridge connects to Creag Pitridh by way of an easy bealach.
A third Munro which can be bagged on the same walk is Beinn a Chlachair, for a walker fit enough to add it to the tour, but this does involve a fairly large descent / re-ascent.[1]
