The Isle of Dogs lies in southeastern Middlesex within the Greater London conurbation. It was formerly a true island; bounded to the west, south and east by a shard meander in the River Thames, it was once seperated from the mainland to the north by the West India Dock, however it is now connected by a small strip of infilled land.
