'Tintagel Old Post Office in Tintagel, Cornwall, is the oldest building in the village itself (though a few centuries younger than Tintagel Castle).
The house stands sits on the High Street amongst the bustling village, a unique place. It was built in the 14th century and shows itin its uncompromising mediæval style, thick stone walls, buttresses and wobbly roofline.
It is an unusual house, full of atmosphere, built as the house of a yeoman farmer: the name of "Post Office" is much later, as for a few years in the Victorian Age it held a licence to be the letter receiving station for the district.
The house belongs to the National Trust, which has painstakingly restored it. It was acquired by the National Trust in 1903, among the Trust's earliest acquisitions.
