Limavady is a market town in County Londonderry, set on the plain that runs down towards Lough Neagh but with Binevenagh behind as a fine backdrop to the town. It stands seventeen miles east of Londonderry and fourteen miles southwest of Coleraine. A growing town, in the 30 years after the 1971 census, Limavady's population was found almost to have doubled.
