The Ettrick Forest is a former royal forest covering much of Selkirkshire, and indeed the shire was long known as 'Ettrick Forest' itself.
The forest is a large area of moorland, extending from a little south of Peebles in Peeblesshire, and stretching from Dollar Law to Selkirk.
