Crailing

Crailing is a village and parish in Roxburghshire. It is situated on the A698 road in Teviotdale, four miles east of Jedburgh.

Places nearby include Ancrum, Crailinghall, Eckford, Hownam, Kelso, Nisbet, the Oxnam Water, the River Teviot.

Rory Bremner bought Crailing House near Jedburgh in September 2009.

Notable people and events

  • Robert Aitken (1800-1873)
  • Crailing played an important role in the early history of Clan Oliphant. Sir David Olifard, who is commonly held to be the progenitor of the clan, in 1141 got lands at Crailing from King David I whose life Olifard had saved.
