InverarayInveraray is a town and royal burgh in Argyllshire, on the western shore of Loch Fyne near its head. It is Argyll's county town and ancestral home to the Duke of Argyll. The town owes its prosperity to the Dukes of Argyll. In 1744 the third Duke of Argyll decided to demolish the existing castle and his replacement took 40 years to build.
