Melton Mowbray is a pretty town in north-eastern Leicestershire. Promoted as the "Rural Capital of Food", Melton Mowbray is perhaps best-known for its culinary specialities, being the home of the Melton Mowbray pork pie and one of the six homes of Stilton cheese.

The town is found 14½ miles northeast of Leicester, and 18 miles southeast of Nottingham. Both the River Eye and the River Wreake flow through the town. In and around Melton, there are 28 scheduled ancient monuments, around 705 buildings listed as having special architectural or historical interest, 16 sites of special scientific interest, and several deserted village sites.
