Little Bay is a small bay on the northwest coast of Montserrat where the island's new capital is being built, to replace Plymouth, which the volcano destroyed in 1997.
Little Bay is close by Brades, which functions as the capital at present, and provides a sheltered anchorage with potential for a convenient marina and port, with the town to grow in the valley above.
Several names have been suggested for the new town, including Port Diana, in memory of Diana Princess of Wales,[1] and St Patrick's, to commemorate the uprising of 17th March and to attract Irish-American tourists. It is expected however to retain the name “Little Bay”.
