Lyscombe Hill in the Dorset Downs rises to 860 feet above sea level near Melcombe Bingham about nine miles north of Dorchester in Dorset.
There is evidence of ancient settlement in the area, including tumuli, dykes and an Iron Age hillfort, known as Nettlecombe Tout (at 846 feet), near the summit (ST73680309).[1] and at the end of the hill spur of the same name.[2][3]
Nearby on the summit ridge of the Dorset Downs are Ball Hill to the west and the Dorsetshire Gap to the east.
