Description Tievebulliagh - On the slopes of Tievebulliagh, near Tully, Northern Ireland, there is an outcrop of a type of rock called porcellanite, which has been baked by the heat of the dolerite plug forming the summit of the mountain. Porcellanite is extremely hard and fine-grained, and it was used in Neolithic times to make stone axes, which have been found all over Ireland and further afield. Fragments of porcellanite can be seen among the dolerite in the scree.
