Summary

Description
English: The Rype, Lydd. Once an area of common land now a registered village green owned by Lydd council in the centre of the town. Reputed to have been given to the town by Alfred the Great for beating off an invasion of Danes in the 9th century. This park is all that remains of this once huge expanse of land part of which is now part of Lydd Ranges. The pub in front of the church is the Dolphin Inn.
