Summary

Description
English: Sheepbanks near Sharperton Sheepbanks is on the unclassified road from Sharperton to Biddlestone. The cottage has a little history. A family tree website reveals that Margaret Macpherson (nee Brown), was born at Sheepbanks on 1 September 1916. She was the daughter of Thomas Brown, who had worked at Twizel Farm near Coldstream until he became disabled after being kicked by a horse. He did not completely recover from his accident and he was ill at the time of Margaret's birth, and he died in September the following year http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/BORDER/2002-09/1032877123. In May 1943 the cottage would have been passed by a farmer, Bob Telford, who herded seventy five cattle from Wark, north to a new farm near Powburn as told in the Telford Drove Story on the Northumberland National Park website http://www.northumberlandnationalpark.org.uk/lookingafter/projects/droversproject/droversoralhistoryproject/telforddrovestory.htm.
