Summary

Description
English: Pontefract Court House, Cornmarket, Pontefract. Until the 1970s, when the Court system was reorganised, this impressive stone built building housed the Pontefract Borough Quarter Sessions as well as Pontefract Borough and Pontefract West Riding Magistrates Courts it is still the home of Pontefract Magistrates Court in 2010. Up until 1964, it was also the Police Station and Divisional Headquarters for Pontefract Division of the West Riding Constabulary.
