Summary

Description
English: Inch Garvie, taken from the Forth Rail Bridge. Inch Garvie was an important strategic point, defended by the Royalists against Cromwell. It had as many guns mounted on it, and men set to work them, as its castle could hold but was forced to surrender to Cromwell in 1651, probably because of a lack of fresh water. The remains of this fort are in poor condition and consist of a low, roughly built wall, modern brickwork having been introduced when the island was fortified during the last two wars.
