Summary

Description
English: Beeston Canal. Beeston Canal was originally cut to connect the River Trent with the Nottingham Canal so that access could be gained to the centre of Nottingham, the river still being navigable to shallow-draft boats via a second lock at Beeston. Since that time, this second lock has closed and the canal is now the only route which boaters can take before rejoining the river in Nottingham. This photo was taken from the Beeston Turnover Bridge at SK541356 and shows the view NE along the canal, with Beeston Rylands on the left, until it disappears from sight at the Boots footbridge (SK544359).
