Blue Stack Mountains

The Blue Stack Mountains or Bluestack Mountains, are the major mountain range in the south of County Donegal. They provide a barrier between the towns in the south of the county, such as Donegal and Ballyshannon, and the towns to the north and west such as Dungloe and Letterkenny. The road between the two parts of the county goes through the Barnesmore Gap.
These mountains are also known as the Croaghgorms, from the Irish na Cruacha Gorma: 'The blue stacks'.
The highest mountains in the range are:
- Croaghgorm, which at 2,211 feet is the highest;[1]
- Ardnageer (2,106 feet);
- Croaghanirwore (1,798 feet);
- Croaghbarnes (1,637 feet);
- Croaghblane (2,103 feet);
- Croaghnageer (1,873 feet);
- Croveenananta (1,562 feet);
- Gaugin Mountain (1,854 feet);
- Lacroagh (1,322 feet);
- Lavagh More (2,201 feet) and
- Lavagh Beg (2,133 feet).
- Silver Hill (1,969 feet)
