Upper Dunsforth is a village on the border of the West Riding and North Riding of Yorkshire. It was mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086) as Doneforde/Dunesford/Dunesforde.[1]

The village is entirely on the right bank of the River Ouse, which forms the boundary between the Ridings for the most part, but here, and at Lower Dunsforth the boundary deviates from the river, splitting both villages between the Ridings.
