Trewern is a small village and extensive parish in Montgomeryshire adjacent to the border with Shropshire.

Location

It is situated on the A458 road, between the towns of Shrewsbury and Welshpool. It has a public bus running through the village which travels from Rhayader to Shrewsbury.

Attractions & amenities

Although only a small village in terms of population, there is a primary school with pupils travelling from miles around. Also, the school has a public playing area for children to play at. Trewern also has many other sites, such as an extinct volcano and is surrounded by plenty of woodland suitable for outdoor activities.

The word Trewern is from the British language, formed of "tre" meaning dwelling and "wern" meaning marsh, thus dwelling by/near the marsh.

The village continues to see a steady increase in its population. One main reason for this is the more competitive house prices and being well situated near major towns and cities such as Shrewsbury, Birmingham and Chester.
