Whitwell, Rutland

Whitwell is a village in Rutland: a place with a population recorded in 2001 census as just 41. It is located on the A606, about four miles east of Oakham, on the north shore of Rutland Water, and 'Whitwell Harbour' on the reservoir is a popular sailing and water sports area.

Whitwell is one of the smallest villages in Rutland, with only has 19 houses, plus The Noel pub. Nevertheless, Whitwell's twin town is Paris, a fact proclaimed on the signs entering the village: the Mayor of Paris did not refuse their request to be so, nor indeed replied to their letter at all.
