DunfermlineDunfermline is a large town in Fife, standing on high ground 3 miles from the northern shore of the Firth of Forth. It is a former capital of the Kingdom of Scotland; seat of the royal court and an important ecclesiastical centre. Dunfermline Abbey is the burial place for many kings. Here too stand the remains of the Royal Palace of Dunfermline, birthplace of King Charles I. Traditional industries of the town have included textiles, engineering, defence and electronics.
