The Inner Harbour, Alderney

Alderney

Alderney is the most northerly of the Channel Islands and part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey. The island is 3 miles long and 1½ miles wide, covering 3 square miles, making it the third island of the Channel Islands by size. Alderney lies around 10 miles to the west of La Hague in the Cotentin Peninsula of Normandy, 20 miles to the northeast of Guernsey and 60 miles from the south coast of Hampshire, which makes it the closest of the Channel Islands to Great Britain and the closest to France as well. Alderney is separated from Cap de la Hague by the dangerous Race of Alderney (Le Raz).

The island has a population of only 2,400. (Read more)
