Tarporley is a large village in the Eddisbury Hundred of Cheshire, a place of 2,614 souls at the 2011 census.
The village is considered a picturesque village for both visitors and residents. It holds a regular country market on the first Saturday of each month. The High Street has three pubs: the Foresters Arms, the Swan Hotel and the Rising Sun.
Tarporley is bypassed by the A49 and A51 roads. It was once served by Beeston Castle and Tarporley railway station on the Chester to Crewe main line, more than two miles from the village; the line remains open but the station closed in April 1966.
The Tarporley Hunt Club, which is the oldest surviving hunt club in England, meets in the village.
