Shiptonthorpe is a village in the East Riding of Yorkshire, standing between two small market towns of the East Riding, about five miles south-east of Pocklington, and two miles north-west of Market Weighton.

The 2011 census recorded a parish population of 503.

The village has a petrol station, a church, a shop, and a Renault main dealer. Shiptonthorpe’s two pubs have both closed. On the outskirts of the village there is a garden centre called Langlands.

Shiptonthorpe was served by Londesborough railway station on the York to Beverley Line between 1847 and 1965.[1]

Churches

The parish church is All Saints.[2] It is a Grade I listed building.[3]

The Methodist Church, a modern building, has closed and been put up for sale.[4]
