Climbing Scald Hill
Range: Cheviot Hills
Summit: 1,801 feet NT927218

Scald Hill is a hill amongst the Cheviot Hills, in Northumberland, reaching 1,801 feet at its summit. The hill stands to the north-east of the summit of the Cheviot, and might be regarded as part of the Cheviot massif. Scald Hill provides one route for climbing the Cheviot, the highest point of the Cheviot Hills.

Ascent

The hill stands on the north side of the Harthope Valley, close to Langleeford in the dale's upper part. One favoured circular walk runs from below Langleeford (55°29’39"N, 2°4’47"W) up a permissive path to Scald Hill, then on to the Cheviot and to Cairn Hill, here there stands a signpost – the route can follow down to the head of the Harthope Valley and back to Langleeford. Alternatively the walker can join the Pennine Way here.

Other paths come up to Scald Hill; a steep track form Langleeford Hope and another from Broadhope Hill to the north-east.
