Sandhill is a little hamlet in the Isle of Ely in Cambridgeshire, on of those hamlets of the fenland strung out along a river channel, and in this case Sandhill clings to the edge of the embanked course of the Great Ouse to the east of Littleport.
Littleport spreads across to the Great Ouse here, and a level crossing and a bridge cross the railway line and the river here. A second group of cottages is by the main A10 bridge over the Great Ouse just to the north, where the A1101 peels off south-eastwards across Burnt Fen to Shippea Hill and the Suffolk border.
