The Falloch near Crianlarich

The Riiver Falloch is a Highland river, ten miles long and with all but its last mile within Perthshire. For the last mile of the river's course it enters the northernmost tip of Dunbartonshire flowing southwards to enter (or prhaps create) the mighty freshwater lake that is Loch Lomond.

The river rises in a number of burns running off the slopes of Beinn a' Chroin and its neighbours, to the south of Crianlarich, flowing initially northwards towards the village. Here though it turns south-west, carving Glen Falloch.

Four miles south-west of Crianlarich, within the glen, the river tumbles over the beauteous Falls of Falloch. Below this, the river uns southwards until it disgorges into the head of Loch Lomond.
