Pymoor is a fenland village in Cambridgeshire in the vicinity of Ely and in the parish of Little Downham. It is on the edge of the Ouse Washes at Welches Dam by the New Bedford River, and as a result geographically a close neighbour of Manea, but many miles away by road.
There are approximately 390 residents according to the 2011 census, although that figure includes the nearby hamlets of Oxlode and Hundred Foot Bank.
The name of the village is motst commonly rendered "Pymoor", though Pymore is also used, and even Pyemoor. The name Pymoor means "flies over bog" and the village sign shows a dragonfly settling on a bullrush in marshland.
The Pymoor Country and Agricultural show is an annual one day show.

Church
There is no Church of England church in Pymoor, but there is a Methodist chapel, which is the only place of worship.[1]
Oxlode
Oxlode is a tiny hamlet west of Pymoor, run up against the east bank of the New Bedford River. It is at the end of a dead-end lane which branches off the B road between Pymoor and Little Downham, and the only link between Oxlode and Pymoor are these roads and the footpath along the river.
