Petty Church beside the A96

Petty is a parish in Inverness-shire to the north-east of the county town, Inverness. It additionally extends into Nairnshire at Calder's Braichlich. The parish extends for about eight miles along the coast of the Moray Firth, from a mile south of Fort George to within four miles of Inverness city centre. It varies from two to three miles in breadth and extends about nine miles the interior side. It had a population of 2,090 in 2011.

Within the parish are the hamlets of Brackley, Castle Stuart, Drumine, Fisherton, Gollanfield, Newton (of Petty) and Tornagrain. Positioned on the main transport routes from Inverness to Aberdeen, it is traversed by both the A96 road and the railway, although presently without any stations. It is also the location of Inverness Airport.
