River Avon and aqueduct

Muiravonside is a parish in south-eastern Stirlingshire, adjacent to the border with West Lothian. It contains the villages of Maddiston and Whitecross. This parish takes its name from the River Avon, which here forms the county border. Clockwise from the west it is bounded by the parishes of Slamannan and Grangemouth in Stirlingshire and Bo'ness and Carriden, Linlithgow and Torphichen in West Lothian. It is about six miles long, and two broad.

Muiravonside Country Park is situated in the parish covering 170 acres of woodland and parkland. It is formed from the old Muiravonside House country estate, a U-plan 17th-century house. The River Avon Heritage Trail runs around the Park past the historic Avon Aqueduct.
