The Mimmshall Brook near Potters Bar

The Mimmshall Brook is a small river in the north of Middlesex and the south of Hertfordshire. It rises in streams running off the ponds in Dyrham Park in Middlesex and thence flows northwards, passing under the M25 motorway to South Mimms, then north, running parallel to the M1 motorway, and through the grounds of Mimms Hall.

At Brookmans Park in Hertfordshire its yet tiny waters have nevertheless in the past managed to cause flooding,[1] and heavy floodgates are now installed at Water End.

The waters of the brook sink underground in the chalk in the Water End Swallow Holes.
