Manafon is a parish in Montgomeryshire south of Llanfair Caereinion. It is bounded by Castle Caereinion and Berriew to the east, Tregynon to the south, Dwyriw to the west and Llanfair Caereinion to the north. "Afon" is an old Brythonic name still used today in the Welsh language, meaning "river" (as in Stratford-upon-Avon).
Notable people associated with Manafon include the poet Gwallter Mechain.
